In 2021, Xiaomi will be able to launch three foldable smartphones. The alleged development was shared via Twitter by Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC). He said that Xiaomi is expected to have three foldable smartphones in the market in 2021 that could be launched in three design types – out-folding, in-folding, and clamshell. Competitors in the market such as Oppo and Samsung are also working on their respective foldable phones for the next year, apart from Xiaomi.
Young has also pegged the out-folding phone of Xiaomi to be identical to the Huawei Mate X. From the out-folding phone, an 8-inch screen can be predicted, which should have a bigger screen than the in-folding model.
Xiaomi had earlier filed a design patent for an inward-bending foldable phone with a quad-camera setup in China. In order to display the handset, which is expected to be its flagship model for the foldable-phone lineup, the company has also put up 48 photos.
It is no wonder that smartphone manufacturers are looking for their foldable smartphone technology to go all guns blazing as there is a massive demand on the market for the same. The entry of Xiaomi and Oppo could spice up the market due to limited players operating in the field of foldable smartphones, which means customers would have more affordable foldable devices.
